Kate Hudson has been thinking about her big family at the beginning of the new year.
In the Friday episode of her podcast “Sibling Revelry” with older brother Oliver Hudson, 44, the 41-year-old actress talked about her distant father Bill Hudson, and how “it would be nice to connect a little” with her half- brothers .
“Do you know what I’ve been thinking lately? Dad, ”said Kate.
“I was thinking – I’ve been thinking a lot about Dad. I’ve been thinking about our sisters, with whom we don’t spend much time, and our brother. Brothers. We have four brothers with whom we don’t spend much time, ”she continued.
Bill, 71, was married to Kate and Oliver’s mother, Goldie Hawn, from 1976-1982. He later married actress Cindy Williams, with whom he has two children, daughter Emily and son Zachary. He also has a daughter, Lalania, from another relationship.
Hawn, 75, and Kurt Russell, 69, have been together since 1983 and share a son, Wyatt Russell, 34. Kurt also has a son, Boston, 40, with ex-Season Hubley.
“I was thinking about how everyone is getting older,” said Kate on Friday. “I just had a moment like, it would be nice to connect a little bit, especially with my sisters.
“We have been talking a lot about sibling relationships and troubled relationships,” she continued. “And we are sitting here like, we have the best family, we are great. And yet, we never recognize the fact that we have four other brothers – four. So I’ve been thinking a lot about the Hudsons. To think that it is important to reach out to all our brothers and maybe connect with them a little. “
In 2015, Oliver criticized Bill in a Father’s Day Instagram post, writing: “Happy Abandonment Day … @KateHudson.” Bill later told the Daily Mail that he was severing ties with Oliver and Kate.
Oliver said he and his father reconnected after the infamous post, revealing in “Larry King Now” in 2018 that the two had “fired some texts back and forth”.
In a 2016 interview on the Howard Stern Show, Kate said of Bill and the past: “I really recognize whatever these problems are, it’s just something he has to live with and that must be painful for him, forgive him . “
