Kara Keough Bosworth reveals that she is expecting another baby a year after the loss of son McCoy

Kara Keough Bosworth has revealed that she is expecting a child a year after the death of her newborn son McCoy.

Bosworth, 32, reflected on loss, life and renewal when announcing that she was pregnant with her third child via an Easter Sunday Instagram, celebrating both the ‘new life’ and the ‘sacrifice’.

Kara’s photos showed her five-year-old daughter Decker crouching beside three Easter baskets – one for her, one for McCoy and one without a name – in front of a garden stake with she said: ‘McCoy is a younger brother old! Sprouting this spring! ‘

The daughter of the RHOC original, Jeana Keough, tragically lost her son McCoy six days after the home birth in April 2020.

‘For Christians, for Jews and for me, this time it is a reminder of the death of the firstborn. Sacrifice. Suffering. Grief. To weight.

‘Why is this night different from the others? The last Easter was the worst night of my life. We held our firstborn son in our arms while he breathed for the last time. We spent time in hell watching your son die.

‘This Easter is decidedly better. Despite that miserable Easter night, I cannot ignore that this day also represents rebirth. Hope renewed.

‘The word’ Easter ‘is said to derive from the goddess Eostre. Eostre, the goddess of fertility, symbolizes the birth of a new life and the dawn of spring.

‘And so it is for us. New life, the dawn of something beautiful and restorative. Literally rising from the ground.

– We missed you, Mack-a-doodle. Thank you for sending us this sacred gift. You are an older brother! Tell grandpa that I said he was right. He will know what I mean.

The basket representing her next addition featured a rainbow in it, as she alluded to the child being her ‘rainbow baby’ – a term for a child born in a family who had already lost a child due to an abortion, stillborn or death during childhood.

Kara shared the photos of her son, McCoy, in a very vulnerable way after he died of ‘dystocia of the shoulder and compressed umbilical cord’.

In her message with a religious touch last April, she reflected on the loss and wrote that the baby was in a ‘better place’.

‘May your legacy shine in the form of many lives – lives full of laughter, compassion, energy, love and, above all, gratitude.

‘It can be said that McCoy Casey Bosworth left this world in a better place, for a better place … that he made an impact … that he was an answered prayer … that he was a hero. May the angels lead you. ‘

Since the loss, she has continued to keep her memory alive through pictures and a garden in her backyard named after him, called ‘McCoy Casey’s Garden of Life’.

She also got a tattoo of an ‘M’ on her arm with his ashes in the ink. “He can stay forever in my arms like this, in the place where he rested for the last time,” she wrote a month after her death.

After the loss, she and her husband joined a support group for bereaved parents, and in addition, she wrote a poignant essay for Good Morning America about what it means to lose a child.

“We blame ourselves, not because we did anything to harm our children, but because we are their mothers, and protecting them is our most sacred duty,” she wrote, adding at the time that her pain fluctuates daily.

Talking about the support she received from her grieving group, she shared that she felt lucky to have other people who understood her pain.

‘Every day, every minute, another mother joins us at this club. It is a club that no one wants to be a part of, but the love and compassion within it is unlike any other. The instantaneous bond that ignites between two women when we sit together in this pain is almost spiritual. ‘

Although she announced at Easter that she and her seven-year-old husband, Kyle Bosworth, are pregnant, she did not reveal how advanced her pregnancy is.
