Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns face off today (Saturday, February 13, 2021) in a UFC APEX welterweight bout in Las Vegas, Nevada at UFC 258. Although it is not necessarily the high profile battle needed to fight a expensive pay-per-view (PPV), Usman vs. Burns was the definitive fight for the welterweight title, an excellent battle between the dominant champion and a worthy candidate.

First round
Burns presses the action early on, firing kicks. Burns’ huge right briefly brought Usman down, and they’re both BRAWLING! Usman is hesitant, but the champion seems to be recovering. Burns slipped in a high kick and Usman spent more time recovering by kicking his opponent in the legs while standing over him. Usman actually hits a series of low kicks before Burns gets up and the Brazilian hits a knee. Usman shoots back and hits punches. Good low kick from the champion, but Burns returns the favor. Usman kicked the middle section off. Usman assembles a good series of jabs. Burn shot is stuffed. Burns is still playing with real strength and he connects with a good hook.
Second round
Usman throws some strong punches to start the round. Kick hard in Burns’ calves, but Usman does the same. Burns is very active with his kicks. Clean Burns’ right hand. Usman’s stiff jab backs Burns, then a right overhand stuns him. Burns hit the fence and Usman came forward, throwing powerful punches. Usman is doing DAMAGE! Now, Usman attacks from Southpaw, but Burns seems to have his legs under him again. Out of nowhere, a jab shoots Burns! Burns stands up and finds an uppercut.
Third Round
Right-handed Jab knocks Burns down early in the third round! Usman follows him to the mat and dodges, hitting hard punches while standing over his opponent. That’s it, the fight is over!
