Vice President Kamala Harris laughed when answering a question from a reporter who asked on Monday whether she was visiting the border amid the growing migratory crisis.
While answering questions from reporters outside Air Force One, Harris was asked if she had “plans to visit” the southern border while the immigration crisis continued to develop.

The vice president responded to the consultation with a “not today” before laughing. She went on to say that she had visited “before” and that she would probably come back.
The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News ‘question about whether they thought Harris’ response was appropriate, given the situation on the border that the Biden government refuses to call “crisis”.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki maintained the position of the Biden government during a news conference on Monday, referring to the border situation as a “circumstance” and saying that children fleeing persecution in their home countries “it is not a crisis”.

“Children who present themselves on our border who are fleeing violence, who are fleeing lawsuits, who are fleeing terrible situations are not a crisis,” said Psaki. “We feel that it is our responsibility to approach this situation with humanity and to ensure that they are treated and placed in safe conditions.”
Republican lawmakers spoke out against the way the Biden government handled the crisis.
Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, sent a letter on Monday to President Joe Biden after his government refused access to the press for his and fourteen other senators’ travel to the border this week.

Cruz attacked Biden in the letter, saying that despite government claims that the situation is not a crisis, “the American people are beginning to understand the gravity of the situation”.
“But it is not enough for members of the Senate to see what is going on – the American people must see it,” wrote the Texas senator. “That’s why I asked members of the media to join us. But his government clearly and emphatically refused to offer access to the press.”
“This is outrageous and hypocritical,” added Cruz, who pointed out that both Psaki and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have reneged on their “transparency” vows since the beginning of the government.
Cruz criticized the president for preventing the press from participating in the trip with the group of senators and accused Biden of “hiding the truth from the American people”.

“Denying the press the ability to observe, film and report conditions on the border is not openness or transparency – it is hiding the truth from the American people,” wrote Cruz. “The press and the American people deserve more than denials and excuses from a podium.”
“They deserve to see and understand the crisis for themselves with the help of free and independent reporters from their government,” added the Texas senator, who asked Biden to back down in his decision to block access to the press.

The Biden government was attacked on Monday after Congressman Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, published photos of a crowded immigrant facility in Donna, Texas.
The photos illustrate how the Biden government is treating migrants in detention facilities in the midst of the border crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. They showed many migrants locked in transparent pens that looked like the cages that the previous government was criticized for using.
