Intrigue grew over the week around Sean McDermott’s plans for playing time for the Buffalo Bills at the end of the season against the Miami Dolphins.
Apparently, the plan is to play “many important guys”, including quarterback Josh Allen.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Saturday that the Bills “can get some rest, but the belief is that many key guys will – (Bills) can land 2 seeds, with Josh Allen’s last MVP booth,” Fowler tweeted.

Bills can really get the no. 2 seed in AFC with a victory or defeat for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike Tomlin revealed this week that his plan is to rest most of his top players, including Ben Roethlisberger and TJ Watt.
Allen is right in the middle of the MVP race. He currently has the third best chance (+1400) to win, behind Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay (-650) and Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City (+350). He can currently strengthen his case with a few more touchdowns added to his franchise record 43 this season. Allen is just 40 meters away from breaking Drew Bledsoe’s team pass record in the only 4,359 meter season established in 2002. Allen surpassed Jim Kelly’s touchdown pass record in one season last week and is currently in 34 in the year.
Bills recipient Stefon Diggs had a career run for the first time in Buffalo. Its 120 catches and 1,459 yards are new records in the franchise, overtaking the legendary Bills receiver Eric Molds in recent weeks.
If the Bills beat the Dolphins on Sunday, they will guarantee their first 6-0 win at AFC East and only the third season of 13 wins in the franchise’s history.
Bills is set to take on Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for the first time this weekend, after taking on veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick in week 2. Fitzpatrick tested positive for Covid-19 this week and will lose the game.
Bills safety Micah Hyde said this week that he wants to play against the Dolphins.
“Honestly, it’s nothing but competitive fire right now, for me personally. I want to play, ”said Hyde. “Whatever the decisions are obviously (made), I have no control over them. But I want to play and I want to go out there and compete. I feel like it’s crazy to be saying this, it’s the eighth year (for me) and week 17 and I still feel like I still have things to work on. I’m trying to go there, compete and improve, and get some momentum going into the playoffs. “
