What’s more cool: performing for the President of the United States or being one of the twelve people he follows on Twitter? This is probably what John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are debating right now, considering the events that took place on the opening day. On Wednesday night, John Legend took the stage at the prime time opening event organized by Tom Hanks Celebrating Americaand sang the classic Nina Simone song “Feeling Good” outside, in front of the Lincoln Memorial, with a grand piano. Cool right?
Although it seems very difficult to overcome, Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, can defeat him by becoming one of the twelve people that President Biden follows on Twitter. It all started the night before the inauguration, when Teigen allegedly tweeted playfully to Biden asking for a return after being blocked by the last president (whoever he may be) in the last 4 years. Ask and you will receive in this new administration, apparently, as on Wednesday night Teigen revealed that she, in fact, obtained the elusive follow-up from Joe Biden. Teigen shares the distinction of being followed by the new and improved @POTUS account with names like Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, domestic policy advisor Susan Rice and White House press secretary Jen Psaki , of course. After realizing that the president followed her, Teigen joked that she should “probably never tweet again” before almost immediately following that tweet with another tweet praising Katy Perry’s opening night “Firework”, so it looks like no we run the risk of Teigen changing her presence on Twitter now that she has a famous new follower, thank goodness. @POTUS got off to a strong start.
