Jessica Simpson reacts to Subway tuna process with epic response

Jessica Simpson had the perfect reaction to a lawsuit claiming that Subway serves fake tuna in its sandwiches and packages. While the sandwich chain denies claims that its tuna is not the real deal, Simpson got into the controversy.

“It’s okay @SUBWAY. It’s confusing”, the singer and businessman 40 years older wrote next to a video of the story that aired today.

Subway’s claim alleges that the tuna in the sandwich chain is made from a “mix of various blends” made to “imitate the appearance of the tuna”. Subway said “there is no truth” in the allegations.

Simpson mistook Frango do Mar tuna in 2003 during an iconic moment on his MTV reality show “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica”.

In the show’s debut episode, Simpson was sitting on the couch eating from a bowl when she turned to her then husband, 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey, and asked what exactly she was eating.

“Is that chicken I have, or is it fish?” Simpson asked.

“I know it’s tuna, but it says chicken by the sea,” she continued. “Is that stupid? What’s it called – chicken by the sea or at sea?”

Lachey informed his wife that she was actually eating tuna.

“Sea chicken is the brand,” he said. “You know, because a lot of people eat tuna, just like a lot of people eat chicken. Chicken of the sea.”

Simpson then explained the confusion to her husband.

“Oh, I understand now. I read it wrong,” she replied.

Simpson dominated the moment and showed that she has no problem laughing at herself. This is not the first time she has taken the opportunity to joke about tuna.

In 2017, Whole Foods recalled 440 pounds of what it thought was buffalo chicken salad, but ended up including tuna. Simpson shared a screenshot of an article with the title, “Whole Foods found that their chicken salad actually ate tuna.”

“It happens to the best of us @WholeFoods,” she wrote.
