Jessica Simpson is not a coward when it comes to laughing at herself.
The singer / actress sent a tweet on Friday in support of the Subway sandwich chain, which is being targeted by a lawsuit alleging that there is no tuna in its tuna sandwiches. The network vigorously denied the allegations, saying there is no “truth” to the allegations.
Simpson, of course, is famous for confusing a can of Frango do Mar tuna with the corral animal.
Simpson wrote in a tweet, “It’s okay @SUBWAY. This is confusing. “
Simpson’s original confusion occurred on the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.
Simpson asked then husband Nick Lachey: “Is this chicken I have or is it fish? I know it’s tuna, but it says chicken by the sea. This is stupid? How is it called – chicken by the sea or at sea? “
Lachey made that clear to her.
“Oh …” Simpson replied. “Oh, I understand now. I read it wrong. “
NBC commissioned a pilot comedy starring Simpson. The single camera design, inspired by Simpson’s life, is based on a pitch developed by Robin and Nick Bakay, with Nick Bakay (Two and a half Men) write the pilot script.
Ben Silverman’s Electus and Universal Television are producing. “I often find myself thinking that no one could ever invent the things that really happen in my life – so, among the elements of real life and a great team of writers, I think we’re going to make people laugh!” Said Simpson.
