Sony’s next big State of Play event is on the horizon, as the PlayStation nation is ready for “deep dives” in a wide range of upcoming titles. From the beginning to what we can expect, here is everything there is to know.
With the lack of physical events in 2021, the gaming industry giants turned to online events to break the news. Right after Nintendo’s last release Direct event, Sony is next in line for a big showcase.
Game state broadcasts range from minor independent events to highly successful hardware revelations. This time, Sony seems determined to focus on the next PS4 and PS5 titles.
There were only four State of Play events until 2020 and each focused on major developments for the PlayStation brand. You don’t want to miss the next live broadcast; see how you can tune in.

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart could be a big focus throughout this State of Play.
When is Sony’s next State of Play event?
Sony set dates for the next State of Play event in a February 23 announcement. Everything is ready to go on air Thursday, February 25 at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET / 10 pm GMT.
Although no exact duration has been announced, Sony expects the next broadcast to run for approximately “30 minutes or more”.
Not unlike previous events, this State of Play will be broadcast live on the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels. We’ve incorporated the stream below for your convenience.
Sony confirms game state details
Although no specific titles have been mentioned, Sony has confirmed that 10 games will be in focus throughout the next broadcast. These games range from independent titles to third-party developments and even announcements of new games.
The event will also not be set only on the PS5 versions. Several of the titles on display are coming to PS4 and PS5, they confirmed in a recent blog post.
There will also be no emphasis on “PlayStation hardware or business-focused updates” throughout the stream; this game state is about the next games.

It may be too soon for new information about Horizon Forbidden West.
What to expect from the next State of Play event?
Almost a quarter of the year already, Sony still has a long list of titles for the next nine months. It is safe to assume that this State of Play could provide new looks for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Deathloop and even Returnal.
However, it is probably too early for considerable updates on Horizon Forbidden West or the God of War sequel.
With new games ready to be revealed, anything is possible.
We haven’t heard from Bend Studio yet, it is rumored that Santa Monica Studio is working on a second project and, of course, Naughty Dog has been relatively quiet since the release of The Last of Us Part II. We may finally see the multiplayer update in action, along with a potential PS5 port.
