Big Lebowski’s star, 71, said in a statement on his website that a “new protocol” under which he is in his battle for health appears to be a success.

“I’m going to do a CT scan to see if my new protocol is shrinking my tumor,” said the Oscar winner. “It just so happens that it’s working perfectly. The thing has shrunk dramatically.

The Hollywood veteran, from films like Crazy Heart, Starman, The Last Picture Show and True Grit, said he returned to his home “elated by the news”.

Bridges said his mood sank after hearing about the deadly riots at the United States Capitol.

“I turn on the TV to find out what’s going on in the world and … well … I don’t need to know what’s going on,” said Bridges. ‘Seeing our country attacking has broken my heart.’
