Jeff Bezos asks for $ 1.7 million in attorney fees from girlfriend’s brother Lauren Sanchez: report

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is trying to recover a huge amount in attorney fees from his girlfriend’s brother Michael Sanchez after his defamation suit was rejected against the billionaire, according to a report on Tuesday.

Sanchez sued Bezos for defamation last February, alleging that the founder of Amazon and his associates falsely claimed that Sanchez leaked explicit Bezos photos to the National Enquirer. The tabloid article in January 2019 revealed a case between Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, who are still in a relationship.

A California judge dismissed the defamation suit in November, ruling that Michael Sanchez’s claims that journalists told him that Bezos’s team had identified him as the leaker did not constitute sufficient evidence of wrongdoing.

In an application filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court last Friday, Bezos seeks to recover $ 1.7 million from Sanchez, according to Bloomberg, which first obtained the document. The suit further alleges that Sanchez sought to force an agreement “by threatening to discover and publicly disclose private matters.”

“Sir. Bezos’ fee request is obscene, even grotesque, on many levels,” Sanchez’s lawyer, Tom Warren, said in a statement to the publication.

Michael Sanchez acknowledged in his lawsuit that he spoke to the Enquirer about the case before the article was published, but denied that he was the source of the photo leak. Bezos has publicly accused the agency of trying to blackmail him with explicit photos and details of his relationship with Lauren Sanchez.

Bezos has a personal net worth of more than $ 193 billion, according to Forbes. He’s the richest person in the world.
