The unexpected hooded darling of this year’s awards season, Jason Sudeikis, continued his charm offensive at the Critics Choice Awards, where he gave ex-Olivia Wilde a sweet compliment.
After a strong showing at the Golden Globe last week, the Apple TV + series “Ted Lasso” received a few more awards at the 26th annual ceremony on Sunday night, with Sudeikis taking home the trophies for Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Best Comedy Series.
Accepting the last prize with a new sweatshirt, Sudeikis corrected the course of his somewhat rambling speech about the Globes with a handful of direct thanks to the cast and program staff before addressing their ex and their two children, Otis, 6 , and Daisy, 4.
“I want to thank my children, Otis and Daisy. I want to thank their mother, Otis, and Daisy’s mother, Olivia, who came up with the initial idea for a TV show, ”said Sudeikis in his acceptance speech. “She was like, ‘You and Brendan [Hunt] and Joe [Kelly] I like doing it so much, you should do it as a movie or a TV show. ‘I was like,’ No. ‘ She was right. “
Before ending the session, Sudeikis explained why “Ted Lasso”, who is currently filming his second season in London, was a welcome relief in this “darn year”.

After the ceremony, Wilde returned the favor, celebrating the victory on social media, while making special mention of his much sought after costume for awards.
“Congratulations to Jason and the entire Ted Lasso family for their victories on @CriticsChoice. So happy for you, ”she tweeted. “I hope this means that we will all continue to wear sweatshirts when the ceremonies take place in person next year. 🙌 ”
Sudeikis and Wilde followed separate paths in early 2020, ending their engagement after nine years together, People reported in November.
Since giving up, the two have apparently managed to remain friendly and committed to parenting their two children. Both parties reportedly moved on, as Wilde recently started dating Harry Styles after the two hit it off on the set of their next film “Don’t Worry Darling”, while Sudeikis was linked to British model Keeley Hazell.
In an enthusiastic post about his work on the film last month, Wilde made his first public comment about the singer since their romance made headlines, writing that he “surprised us every day” on set.
Sudeikis, however, remained silent about his new novel.
