Janet Jackson stuns UCLA gymnast Margzetta Frazier with a call

UCLA gymnast Margzetta Frazier was in for a big surprise before the weekend clash with Utah.

The Bruins’ junior who turned heads and gained buzz on social media for a floor routine with music by Janet Jackson received a call from the pop star’s FaceTime that brought her to tears.

Jackson extended his hand to Frazier to praise her for the routine that incorporates Jackson’s dance moves, in addition to his music. She posted the video of the call on Instagram.

Janet Jackson: ‘I think you’re amazing’

“A friend sent me this video, and it was your video and the routine you did,” said Jackson to Frazier. “When I watched it, I started to cry. I was so grateful to God for everything He allowed me to do and gave it to me, and just to see the work I did – the young generation still enjoying it the way I did it and still do it 35 years later. …

“I think it’s very important to say thank you … because you inspire me. You really inspire me. Thank you very much for that inspiration. I think you’re amazing. “

Jackson asks Frazier to teach her how to fall

Frazier responded with tears when he thanked Jackson for inspiring her. Jackson then told her that she nailed the choreography.

“The routine you did was excellent,” continued Jackson. “And to learn these steps? You did them perfectly. Usually, someone steps here or there incorrectly. You did it perfectly.”

Jackson also asked Frazier for acrobatics classes before making plans to meet in person. It was a moving moment between a 54-year-old artist and a 20-year-old college athlete who was moved by her music.

Jackson’s call to FaceTime was not the first time she praised Frazier. Earlier this month, she retweeted the video of Frazier’s routine, which begins with Jackson’s 1986 hit “Nasty”. “#iLuvIT” Jackson wrote.

Frazier later told “Access Hollywood” that he expected a call from someone on Jackson’s team, but he didn’t know he would hear from Jackson directly.

“It’s this woman wearing a scarf, sunglasses and a mask,” said Frazier. “And I’m like, oh, I know who this is.”

She said she wasn’t sure if it was Jackson until she heard his voice.

“When do you get a FaceTime call from your hero?”
