James Gunn likes to tweet against Gina Carano after Disney dismisses the ‘Mandalorian’ actress

“Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn appears to approve of online criticism of actress “The Mandalorian” Gina Carano after she was fired by Disney over social media posts – despite her 2018 resignation from direction of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” under similar circumstances.

A viral crowd that led the #FireGinaCarano campaign got her removed from the Disney + series on Wednesday after she shared an Instagram post that compared the current political divide in America to the animosity that led to the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany .

GINA CARANO IS KEEP BACK FOR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS, ‘NOT CURRENTLY EMPLOYED’ BY ‘STAR WARS’

Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, said in a statement obtained by Variety that Carano “was not currently employed” by the company.

Fans and supporters of Carano turned to social media and pointed out several examples of hypocrisy, from a tweet from their “Mandalorian” castmate Pedro Pascal, who compared Nazi concentration camps to residences for American migrants to business ties in Disney’s course with China, even as the Beijing government imprisons Uighur Muslims in concentration camps. The studio also thanked officials in Xinjiang province, where the camps are located, in the final credits of “Mulan”.

Amid the online battle, a tweet that defended Gunn and took down Carano caught the filmmaker’s attention.

“Oh f * ck, don’t drag @JamesGunn into this unfortunate trend topic,” wrote businesswoman Olga Kay before celebrating Carano’s resignation.

Gunn “liked” that tweet.

In July 2018, resurgent tweets showed Gunn joking about child rape and sexual abuse.

“I like it when the boys touch me in my silly place,” said a tweet.

“The best thing about being raped is when you finish being raped and it’s like ‘whew, that’s great, not being raped!'” Gunn wrote in another.

“The Mercenaries were so manly that I ended up with the little cunt boy by my side! The boys ARE back in town!” he joked in a 2010 tweet.

Gunn explained at the time that his tweets were attempts to be “provocative” and “taboo” and that he has repeatedly expressed regret for them over the years. However, Disney fired Gunn from the direction of “Guardians” amid public uproar, although he was reinstated as the director of the Marvel film in March 2019. The film is scheduled to be released in 2023.
