Jaguars plan to meet Urban Meyer to discuss main coach vacancy

Jacksonville Jaguars are planning to meet Urban Meyer on Friday to discuss the team’s vacancy, sources said to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network and Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network Insider.

No deal is imminent with Meyer, adds Pelissero, and the team still has at least one interview scheduled.

Jaguars have already interviewed Chiefs’ offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy and Falcons interim coach Raheem Morris with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh scheduled for Saturday.

The owner of Jaguars, Shad Khan, plans to run a full process and consider all options, according to Pelissero, who emphasized that there is no agreement in force with Meyer or anyone else, according to a source.

The Jaguars fired Doug Marrone last week after a 1-15 campaign and are also looking for a new general manager after firing Dave Caldwell during the season.

Jaguars hold No. 1 overall choice in the NFL’s 2021 Draft.

Meyer, 56, is one of the most talented head coaches in recent memory, leading the Florida Gators to two national championships in 2006 and 2008, and the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2014. Meyer retired from Ohio two years ago for reasons health and worked this year as a college football analyst for FOX.
