Are coming together to do what we’re most passionate about,” wrote the game development veteran. “Because we believe in the power of games to brighten people’s lives. And Sony too. Its commitment to excellence is unmatched. That’s why I couldn’t be happier for your support and support. “

It is unclear in the announcement whether Sony is funding the studio itself or just developing its first game, which Raymond calls “a new unannounced IP for PlayStation”. Sony did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Raymond most recently readd development of own games at Google for its video game streaming platform Stadia. Last month, however, the company suddenly announced Raymond’s departure and that he would close his in-house studios less than two years after his revelation.

“I am proud of the team we built at Stadia Games and Entertainment and the innovative work on games exclusive to the platform,” she said. Kotaku in a statement at the time. “It was a difficult decision to accept a new opportunity and I will be forever grateful to this team for everything we have learned and achieved together.”

Raymond started in the gaming industry working on The Sims Online for EA. Later she changed to produce the Assassin’s Creed series on Ubisoft. In 2010, the French publisher accused Raymond of leading the creation of a new studio in Toronto to develop big budget games, including Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Black List. This studio, which Raymond left for EA in 2014, was one of Ubisoft’s offices destroyed on charges of sexual misconduct and harassment last summer.

“We understand the challenges and rewards of building creative teams from scratch, as well as Jade with his vast experience directing many of the biggest game franchises,” head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst said in a press release today. “We are confident and excited about the bright future of Haven Studios and their first project, currently in development.”
