Installation for Texas migrants ‘pod’ with almost 9x capacity seen in shocking video posted by Senator Lankford

Senator James Lankford, R-Oklahoma, posted a shocking video of a “pod” at a Texas immigrant facility along the southern border that is holding almost nine times as many people as it was designed to contain.

Lankford visited the migrants’ detention facilities on Friday, along with Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas and other Republican senators.

The Oklahoma senator shared a video on Twitter of a tour of a migrant detention center along the southern border that illustrated the startling scene: a pod designed to hold 80 people crowded to the edge with more than 700 migrants.

“Day two of the border – this is a pod designed to hold 80 people who are currently holding 709,” wrote Lankford.

GOP SENATORS MEET TRAFFICKING, MEMBERS OF THE CARTEL ON THE BORDER DURING THE EXCURSION IN RIO GRANDE AT NIGHT

The video showed people shoulder to shoulder, sitting and sleeping on the floor while wrapped in aluminum blankets. The migrants were kept behind transparent walls, some without masks.

Lankford posted a follow-up tweet showing a side-by-side comparison of what the facility should look like in operation and what it looked like on Friday.

“For a side-by-side comparison, the first photo is from my trip to the border in 2019 – the second is from today,” wrote Lankford. “Plenty of space to walk and spread out safely.”

“Tell me this is not a crisis,” he added.

Senator Susan Collins, R-Maine, who was also on the trip, posted on a Twitter thread that Border Patrol is “overwhelmed, overwhelmed, [and] discouraged by new policies. “

“The agents took us on a dangerous path to Rio Grande, where we could hear the members of the Cartel insulting us on the other side of the river,” she wrote. “Human trafficking, child abuse, [and] drug smuggling is rampant. “

“This is a crisis,” added Collins.

The filming of Lankford came as the Biden government continues to destroy the border crisis.

Texas GOP representatives. Van Taylor and August Pfluger visited detention facilities for teenage migrants in their respective jurisdictions and later shared their experiences in interviews with Fox News.

Taylor said migrants detained at the Dallas Convention Center are sleeping “from head to toe” at the facility. Pfluger told Fox News that approximately one in 10 of the migrants at the Midland facility tested positive for COVID-19.

“They have a mix of single and double rooms here. More than 300 children, about 10% positive with COVID,” said Pfluger. “Approximately 10 to 11%.”
