Inshan Ishmael: Andrea’s private autopsy showed blunt trauma

Breaking Barriers businessman and host Inshan Ishmael said a private autopsy by Andrea Bharatt showed that the 23-year-old’s cause of death was blunt trauma.

Speaking during a live video on Facebook earlier today, Ishmael said the private autopsy, which was paid for by him and two friends, showed that she was hit on the head by a blunt object.

He said the autopsy was conducted by pathologist Professor Hubert Daisley at Funeral Home Boodoo in Cunupia.

Ishmael said Loop News that he had not yet been allowed to share the full autopsy report and in the video said he was taking steps to send the report to Bharatt’s family. He said that Mr. Bharatt was notified by Professor Daisley before his live broadcast on Facebook.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said the results of the first autopsy were inconclusive.

Bharatt’s body was found at the bottom of a cliff in Aripo Heights six days after she was kidnapped while taking a taxi in Arima on 29 January.

Two suspects, Andrew Morris and Joel Belcon, who were detained for questioning in connection with his kidnapping and death, died while in hospital under police custody.

Police said Belcon had more than 70 previous cases on charges, including rape, kidnapping, private imprisonment, theft and aggravated theft. At the time of his death, 45 of these cases were pending.

The Police Complaints Authority (PCA) said an investigation was launched into the deaths of Morris and Belcon.

Authorities found other remains near the site where Bharatt’s body was found, which were sent for testing.

Bharatt was employed as a clerk at the Arima Magistrates’ Court.

In the past few days, many have gathered in front of the Red House calling for justice for his death.
