A group on the left calls him an “extremist” who spends his time debating semantics and fomenting cultural wars.

While some Republicans are pushing to censor Senator Mitt Romney of Utah for voting again for the impeachment of Donald Trump, a left-wing group is launching a campaign aimed at ousting Senator Mike Lee for his vote to absolve the former president.
“Today we are launching a campaign against him: Humans Against Mike Lee,” wrote Kathryn Calderon, political director at Alliance for a Better Utah, in an email announcing the campaign.
“If you watched an impeachment trial last week – or if you paid attention to the news in the past 10 years – you know that Senator Mike Lee is the worst,” she said. “He is an extremist who likes to debate semantics and choose cultural war fights, instead of doing things to help Utahns.”
The top leaders of the Utah Republican Party said they are not behind the censorship effort. Instead, the party issued a statement on Monday noting that Romney and Lee faced criticism for their impeachment votes.
“The differences between our own Utah Republicans show a diversity of thinking, in contrast to the danger of a party fixing on ‘unanimity of thought’. There is power in our differences as a political party, and we expect each senator to explain his votes to the people of Utah, ”said the Republican statement.
