With its latest app update (released over February), Fitbit now supports tracking your blood glucose readings within the app for users in the U.S. Your fitbit device still cannot measure blood glucose; it’s just in-app tracking that is new.

“[H]looking for somewhere to track [blood glucose] alongside your daily health behaviors, such as activity, nutrition, sleep or stress and other biometric data such as weight, can be extremely valuable for learning new strategies and helping to make improvements in your health management, ”says Fitbit in his blog post announcing the new feature.

Blood glucose tracking is useful for people with diabetes or other medical conditions. The new feature does not replace medical advice; the idea is to help you recognize the patterns that relate your glucose levels to meals, activity levels and sleep.

If you already use the OneTouch Reveal app with a glucose monitor, Fitbit can now import readings from that app. Otherwise, you will have to record your blood glucose readings manually. You can configure the app to remind you to do this, including sending reminders directly to your Fitbthis.

If you have a subscription to Fitbit Premium ($ 9.99 / month), you can see how your levels fall within the desired range in the last 30 days. You can also include your glucose levels in Wellness Reports to share with your healthcare professionals.

Some other updates are being released at the same time. YOU.S. users will now be able to track ECG readings on Fitbit Sense and get SpO2 (blood oxygen) readings directly on the Charge 4 pulse.

The Health Metrics dashboard, previously only available for Sense and Versa 3, is now available for Versa 2, Inspire 2 and Charge 4. Free users can see 7 days of data, while only premium users have a 30-day view .
