House rules can be removed from all gender references

The proposed changes to the House of Representatives’ rules would “honor all gender identities”, eliminating specific terms like mother and father, son and daughter and aunt and uncle.

Instead, only gender-neutral terms such as “father”, “son”, “brother” and “parent’s brother” would be allowed in the text of the House rules, according to the proposed changes.

The proposed changes – which also include the establishment of an “Office of Diversity and Inclusion” in the Chamber – will be voted after the Chamber meeting on Sunday for the new 117th Congress.

Another change in the rules would prevent Republicans from amending a bill at the last minute, the Washington Examiner reported.

Instead, these proposed changes would send the bill back to the committee, effectively eliminating it, the examiner noted.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said this is necessary so that changes to the last-minute bill – known as Motions to Reconfirm – “are no longer used to hijack the legislative process for political game purposes”.

The new rules will make the House “the most inclusive in history,” said Pelosi in announcing the proposed changes.

But the gender neutralization movement – a nod to the transgender and non-binary community – has been widely ridiculed on social media.

“As you can see, Congress really has its finger on America’s pulse,” the conservative Daily Caller captured on Twitter.

“Is it some kind of plan to create confusion through obfuscation?” @tweeting_chance replied to the tweet. “Do we already have enough of that in our legislation?”

Other changes would remove the speaking privileges of ex-House members convicted of crimes related to their service or election in the House and would make it a violation of the Official Code of Conduct for a household member or employee to reveal the identity of a whistleblower.

House members and their employees would also be banned from spreading “manipulated media”, including “deepfakes”.
