But DeJoy is considering additional operational changes. The Washington Post reported last week that DeJoy is preparing to assign all first-class mail to a three to five-day delivery period, rather than allowing a separate level that delivers mail in two days. Only 38 percent of first class mail was delivered on time at the end of last year.
In response to the Washington Post report, Connolly, who chairs a Chamber Supervisory subcommittee with jurisdiction over the Postal Service, also asked Biden last week to remove and replace “immediately” the entire Board of Governors to pave the way for removal DeJoy.
The Biden government said Biden plans to fill vacancies with officials “who reflect his commitment to US Postal workers”, but has yet to offer a deadline.
