Homan: Biden’s words will cause ‘an increase in the border that we’ve never seen before’

President-elect Joe Biden’s pledge to reverse the Trump administration’s policies on border security and illegal immigration will cause “an increase in the border that we’ve never seen before,” said the former acting director of the US Department of Immigration and Customs (ICE) ), Thomas Homan. Monday.

Homan has long warned of an “out of control border” if a Democrat succeeds in overthrowing Trump in the November elections. With Biden set to take office on Wednesday and a large caravan of migrants already heading for America’s southern border, the former immigration official is increasingly concerned.

“The criminal gangs have already discovered the transport routes. The caravans are already loaded and arriving and more will come. You will see an increase in the border that we have never seen before because of Joe Biden’s words,” said Homan to the Fox News presenter, John Roberts.

More than 3,000 Honduran migrants moved to Guatemala on Friday as part of a larger caravan that left a Honduran city earlier in the day en route to the United States. They expect a warmer reception when they reach the border, but Biden’s transition authorities are asking them to return until the necessary policy changes can be implemented.

Homan said that Biden “knew” that his words would cause an overwhelming increase at the border, but argued that it was “more important for him to win the votes of the left and be elected president than to protect this country.

“He put himself at the head of the country and that, to me, is disgusting,” said Homan.

Biden has pledged to end the Migrant Protection Protocols, which keep migrants in Mexico pending their political asylum hearings. The Trump administration said the program helped end the so-called “attraction factors” that bring migrants north, but critics say the policy is cruel and puts asylum seekers at risk.
