HBO offers Game of Thrones author George RR Martin an eight-digit deal

George RR Martin, the author of A song of ice and fire series of books that became HBO’s big hit The Game of Thrones, signed a major new agreement with HBO to make content for the network and HBO Max, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It’s a five-year “eight-digit” deal, sources said. THR.

Although The Game of Thrones ended in 2019, the owner of HBO WarnerMedia has already announced a prequel series, Dragon House, based on Martin 2019 book Fire and blood. And there are five projects under development based on The Game of Thrones universe, THR reports. Martin is also developing series for HBO based on the novels Who Fears Death and Roadmarks.

My biggest fear, however, is that this big new deal will prevent Martin from working on the sixth book of the A song of ice and fire Book Series, The Winter Winds. The author said in February that he wrote “hundreds and hundreds of pages” of The Winter Winds in 2020, which was the “best year” he had in the book. Fingers crossed, he has maintained that momentum. The previous title in the seven book series, A dance with dragons, was launched in July 2011.
