BOSTON – The Harvard Institute of Politics removed Rep. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) from its Senior Advisory Committee in the wake of last week’s deadly US Capitol revolt, pointing to its baseless allegations of electoral fraud in the November election.
“Elise made public statements about electoral fraud in the November presidential election that are not based on evidence, and she made public statements about election-related lawsuits that are incorrect,” wrote Dean Douglas Elmendorf of Harvard Kennedy School in a letter released Tuesday. market . “Furthermore, these statements and statements do not reflect political divergences, but are related to the foundations of the electoral process through which the leaders of this country are chosen.”
The school initially asked Stefanik to stay away, according to Elmendorf. When the New York lawmaker refused, the school removed it. Stefanik was among the 147 Republicans in the House who voted against certifying the election victory of President-elect Joe Biden.
