Harry Brant – the flamboyant fashionista son of billionaire polo player Peter Brant and supermodel Stephanie Seymour – died of an accidental drug overdose, his family said on Monday. He was 24 years old.
Bon vivant, an icon of high fashion couture along with his older brother, Peter Jr., was found dead on Sunday, just days before he was sent to rehab, his parents said in a statement to The Post.
“It is with great sadness that we share with you the news that our beloved son, Harry Brant, lost the battle against addiction and died due to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs,” said the statement by Stephanie and Peter Brant.
“Our hearts are broken. Harry wanted to overcome his addiction and was just days away from rehab.
“We will be forever sad that Harry’s life was interrupted by this devastating illness. We ask that you allow the privacy of our family while we try to deal with the loss of our beautiful, beautiful boy. “
Harry and his brother – often described as the male version of the wealthy and celebrity sisters Paris and Nicky Hilton – were well-known figures at New York’s hottest parties and front-row attendees at major international fashion shows.
“Harry loved fashion and was a pioneer in beauty products and cosmetics for men – collaborating with a major brand in a line of unisex cosmetics,” said his family.
“He has achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never have a chance to see how much more Harry could have done.”
Growing up in his privileged world, Harry would walk through the family’s mansion on his 300-acre property in Greenwich, Ct., Complete with dozens of ponies, a polo field – and a 41-foot sculpture by Jeff Koons in the front yard – and being questioned by his father about the names of artists whose priceless works adorned the walls, wrote Harper’s Bazaar magazine in a family profile in 2014
“If I got it right, I would get a dollar,” Harry told the magazine.
The brothers’ father, Peter Sr., was born in Queens and owns newsprint maker White Birch Paper and Brant Publications, Inc., whose stakes include Interview magazine, founded by Andy Warhol. Peter Senior is also a world-renowned art collector and loves to play polo, although supposedly with a strong temper, which earned him the nickname “John McEnroe of polo”.
The boys’ beautiful mother, Seymour, was one of the first – and most famous – Angels of lingerie company Victoria’s Secret.
Her beautiful children inherited their modeling genes and worked for several agencies – in addition to creating a unisex makeup line for MAC Cosmetics.
Still, the eccentric siblings who love Gucci – and their parents – are no strangers to the controversy over the years.
Harry Brant was arrested in 2016 for theft and drug raps for allegedly jumping into a $ 27.85 taxi and being caught “with a white substance” that he later tested positive for drugs.
In the same year, his brother Peter was charged with assault after he allegedly got involved in an alcohol fight with a Port Authority police officer at JFK Airport. In 2012, Peter was also caught joking online about President Obama’s assassination.
In 2009, Peter Brant Sr. accused Seymour of being an “inadequate mother” in divorce proceedings, claiming that she took pills and abused alcohol. The pair has since reconciled.
In 2014, Seymour was charged with DUI after reversing her Range Rover on a highway ramp and hitting a traffic light.
Her husband also served 84 days behind bars for tax evasion.
