South by Southwest is (virtually) in progress and, in the midst of all the film premieres – stay tuned to io9 to see the next reviews – this news came: a horror short made during quarantine has just been chosen by the director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Hardcore Harry) to get the full-length treatment.

This news arrives of the term; the short, Don’t spy, is based on Animal Crossing, as well as the notion of family horror that things are much, much more frightening when they happen while you are alone in the dark. Creator Julian Terry made the short last year, and he is still available to watch on YouTube now after the release of SXSW. Feast with your eyes!

SXSW continues until March 20.
