Halo: The Master Chief Collection continues to receive new content – both on consoles and on PC – over six years after its release, and this also applies to the flighting pre-launch program that brings new features and updates to Halo Insider members before going live in the public game. On the next flight, a number of great features will be added, including mouse and keyboard support on the console.
Yes, that would have seemed almost sacrilegious in a Halo game just a few years ago, but times are changing. Around February 18, but possibly a little later, the next public flight from Halo: The Master Chief Collection will add the mouse and keyboard to the consoles. Other console-specific features include support for FOV slider on Xbox One, as well as an unlocked FOV slider for Xbox Series X | Y if you are running your devices at 120 Hz. This option was not previously available in this configuration.
Other features that come with the flight include a new Halo 3 map originally seen in the Russian game Halo Online, which was lost after the game ended. Who would have thought that we would get a new map for that game more than 13 years after its release?
Custom game browsers and more Season 6 content will also be available on the flight, as well as dual keys and new audio options. 343 is certainly doing its best to keep players interested as we continue to wait for Halo Infinite. The game is expected to arrive later this year, after being postponed from the original Xbox Series X release | S on launch day.
