A Dutchman went viral for skating on a frozen half-naked canal – and diving after the ice cracked.
In a viewed video almost 7 million times On Twitter, on Tuesday morning, the unidentified man wore only tight black shorts while sliding down the Keizersgracht canal in Amsterdam.
His feet suddenly sank under a section of cracked ice, turning him into a flying Dutchman as he darted forward, colliding with the rest of the guy.
Soon, it was not only the ice breaking, but also those watching, with the clip posted on Sunday capturing his audience screaming and laughing as he raised his head to show he was safe.
After initially looking stunned, the skater joked about his “facial plant” – and bowed after being finally pulled onto a thicker piece of ice by another skater.
A series of accidents recently led Prime Minister Mark Rutte to warn his country, while admitting that “skating on natural ice makes the hearts of many Dutchmen beat faster”.
Rutte was particularly concerned about people being hospitalized during the pandemic, as well as putting himself at risk for renouncing security protocols, noted NL Times.
“Unfortunately, all those horrible measures of coronavirus apply to ice. It is not that the cold makes the virus less contagious, certainly not, ”said Rutte. “So enjoy it sensibly, keep your distance and stay home when you are very busy. Follow all the measures and, above all, avoid that hospitals are even more busy due to all types of bone fractures ”.
