Grubhub partnered with Girl Scouts to help sell cookies safely and teach entrepreneurship

The national office announced the partnership earlier this month, when it started the cookie season. The food delivery service is currently being used in select markets and other cities are being added as the season progresses. Grubhub is waiving all fees for Girl Scouts to make this option viable for sales without reducing troop and council revenue, according to the organization.
To start the partnership, Grubhub will deliver cookies for free with a minimum purchase of $ 15 until February 14th.

“We are proud of the ingenious ways in which Girl Scouts are running their cookie business safely and using their earnings to make the world a better place,” said Judith Batty, interim CEO of GSUSA, in a statement.

“This season, our girls will continue to exemplify what the cookie program taught them – how to think like entrepreneurs, use innovative sales tactics and look for new ways to do business when things don’t go according to plan.”

The partnership aims to provide local girl scouts with experience in entrepreneurship. Local troops will track and fulfill orders, manage inventory and more, using Grubhub’s back-end technology.

“The cookie program is what keeps Girl Scouts thriving in communities across the country and is proven to develop girls’ leadership skills and help them succeed in life,” said Batty.

For online sales, customers can use the cookie finder to connect to a local portal if they do not know any members of the local troop. Some areas already sell cookies online, but the option will be available nationwide on Monday.
