‘Green Arrow and The Canaries’ Dead At the CW, ‘The 100’ Prequel TBD – Deadline

The CW is not officially moving forward with Green Arrow and the Canaries, his planned spinoff of a long series of superheroes Arrow. Green Arrow and Canaries aired as an episode of Arrowlate January season. The other spinoff planted by the CW, The 100 prequel, which aired as part of the final season of the survival drama, remains up for grabs.

“They are in active discussions to see what we can do,” said CW President Mark Pedowitz in May about the fate of both projects, produced by Warner Bros. TV. “I had a lot of discussions with Warner Bros., we have a strategy involved – I hope we can carry it out.”

I heard that the network and the studio explored the idea of Green Arrow and the Canaries and The 100 prequel in joint execution on Warner Media’s CW and HBO Max. (Arrow and The 100 on Netflix.) With all the latest CW series, after the end of the exit agreement with Netflix, available on HBO Max, this was considered a viable possibility. This can still happen The 100 prequela.

Starring Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy, Green Arrow and the Canaries it was set in 2040 in Star City and Mia Queen (McNamara) had everything she ever wanted. However, when Laurel (Cassidy) and Dinah (Harkavy) suddenly appeared in her life again, things took a shocking turn and her perfect world was destroyed.

Tara Miele directed the episode written by Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and co-creator / executive producer Marc Guggenheim, executive producer Jill Blankenship and executive co-producer Oscar Balderrama. The project came from Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television.
