Governor Newsom to cancel COVID California home stay requests

California Governor Gavin Newsom plans on Monday to suspend home stay requests across the state – allowing restaurants to resume their meals outdoors amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report.

Sources informed of the governor’s plans told the Los Angeles Times that all counties will revert to a system of colored layers that assign local levels of risk based on the number of cases and rates of positivity.

Most counties will go to the “generalized” level of risk, which allows beauty salons to provide limited services indoors, but restricts many other non-essential commercial operations indoors.

Some elected officials and the restaurant industry have fought in and out of court to overturn the controversial ban on eating outdoors, according to the newspaper.

It was not immediately clear whether the move would lead to loosening of home stay rules in Los Angeles County, which has emerged as the national epicenter of the outbreak, the newspaper reported.

In less than a month, more than 5,000 people died of the disease in the county alone, the vehicle said.

As the number of cases increased, Newsom announced regional requests to stay home on December 3 in an effort to reduce the burden on hospitals.

Although state data shows that hospital systems in Southern California and the San Joaquin Valley remain tense, the governor’s official told authorities on Sunday that the ICU capacity design models in these areas will pass 15 percent – a limit for suspension of stoppages – next month.
