Have you ever participated in a video call and noticed that your camera was not connected or that your microphone was muted? Perhaps you have tried some “how do I look?” before finding out which audio input is the correct one. All of these are problems that Google wants to leave in the past, as the company is launching a feature to test your setup before you talk to others.

A new “Check your audio and video” button is being added to the landing page for Google Meet links. “With this new feature,” wrote the company, “you can attend meetings with the certainty that your technology is working and that you will have the look you want. [to] others. “You can see a quick preview of your settings and even record a short video clip, which is especially useful for making sure you’re on the right microphone.

Unfortunately, it seems that the new functionality is limited to Meet on the web, since the blog post did not mention the Android or iOS applications. Google says the button should be implemented for everyone in the next 15 days.
