Goldman Sachs Group Inc. is looking to invest in digital assets, the latest move by a U.S. bank to enter the world of cryptocurrency, CoinDesk website reported.
The New York-based bank issued a request for information for at least one custody cryptography player in late 2020, according to the portal, which cited an unidentified person. Goldman’s initiative is part of a broader digital strategy, said CoinDesk.
Goldman Sachs representatives did not immediately respond to messages requesting comments over the weekend.
Goldman’s possible entry would be the latest in a broader trend to bring digital currency to American banks. Earlier this month, Anchorage Digital Bank became the first cryptocurrency company to win a card from the Currency Controller Office.
