Director Adam Wingard told SyFy Wire that there are two good reasons. Surprisingly, one is that viewers have seen the scene before the credits even started.

“We actually shot a post-credit scene, but we ended up using it in the film,” Wingard told the publication, although he did not reveal the scene. He went on to say that it was “one of those things that we shot as an idea, we went into the editorial and realized ‘we need a moment at a certain point in the film’ [so] we ended up taking that footage and using it in a different context in the film and it really worked for us. “

The other reason has to do with the unknown future of the movie Monsterverse. Generally, post-credit scenes torment viewers with a suggestion for an eventual sequel or subsequent film, and at the moment there are no specific plans for another film in the series. So not having a post-credit scene is the right decision, said Wingard.

“I think it’s 100 percent the right choice,” he said, “because this is the crossroads for Monsterverse.”
