Go watch this stunning short film of FPV drones inside a busy bowling alley

It’s been a while since most of us have been able to go to a bowling alley, but “Right Up Our Alley” is a new drone video that may be the next best thing, thanks to an impressive display of camera and pilot work of drones skill, via Kottke.

The video, from YouTuber jaybyrdfilms, does not provide much detail, unless it was filmed at the Bryant Lake Bowl in Minneapolis and was filmed with an FPV drone. But the footage speaks for itself.

At first, it gives the impression of a normal drone flight, with a panoramic view of the building itself. But things change quickly as the pilot painstakingly descends the drone inside the open door of the bowling alley, maneuvering between customers and players who waited before plunging onto the rink itself alongside a spinning bowling ball. Throughout the short clip, the pilot manages to fly the drone behind the pin clamping machines, through a narrow aisle of tools and parts, behind the bar and even on the pins for a perfect strike.

Selling the short film is a perfectly voiced dialogue of bowling players, customers and the ambient noise of the alley itself, which gives the illusion of actually flying high around the alley while stretches of conversation float by.

Aspiring pilots may just want to take advantage of this from a distance. Unless you are an experienced drone pilot yourself, you may not want to risk a new $ 1,299 DJI FPV drone to recreate the movie on your own local bowling alley.
