Georgia men’s sneakers fall to South Carolina 4-2 | Georgia Sports

Georgia’s 14th men’s tennis team lost a match to 16th-placed Gamecocks on Sunday at the Carolina Tennis Center. The Bulldogs’ record now stands at 1-4 at the SEC.

Georgia started the day strong, earning the doubles spot thanks to a strong display from the duo of Billy Rowe and Blake Croyder, as well as Philip Henning and Erik Grevelius.

Croyder and Rowe defeated Raphael Lambling and Phillip Jordan of South Carolina 6-3. Henning and Grevelius secured the doubles point with the win against Toby Samuel and Jake Beasley.

In the singles game, Gamecocks’ Daniel Rodrigues defeated Bulldog Trent Bryde to tie the match 1-1. There followed the victories of Beasley and Samuel, of South Carolina, against Croyder and Rowe of Georgia, respectively. That brought the score of the day to 3-1 in favor of South Carolina.

Grevelius defeated Phillip Jordan 6-4 and 6-2, giving the Bulldogs their only singles win of the day.

After Grevelius squeezed Gamecock’s lead, Connor Thomson defeated Henning 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. This ensured South Carolina’s victory that day. Tyler Zink and Lambling failed to finish the game.

Bulldogs are looking to recover from street fights against No. 25 Alabama and Auburn on March 12 and 14.
