Georgia football hires West Virginia CB coach Jahmile Addae

ATHENS – Georgia has hired West Virginia cornerback coach Jahmile Addae for his vacant position as a quarterback coach, according to the school’s social media account.

Addae, a former security guard at all West Virginia conferences (2001-05), was in his second season with the Mountaineers.

Addae replaces Charlton Warren, who worked in Georgia for two seasons before accepting the position of defensive coordinator in Indiana on Tuesday.

West Virginia led the country with the fewest yards allowed per game last season (159.6) and finished 24th in defense of passing efficiency, second in the big 12 for Oklahoma.

Georgia was 88th in the country in passing yards allowed per game and 56th in the country in defense of passing efficiency.

In his first season back in his alma mater, Addae trained two selections from the All-Big 12 Conference at Keith Washington II and Josh Norwood and freshman All-American Tykee Smith, according to his West Virginia biography.

Addae spent the 2018 season in Minnesota training defensive backs and special teams. Previously, he was a defensive defense coach in Arizona (2016-17) and worked as an analyst (2013-15).

As the head coach of UGA, Kirby Smart, Addae also spent time as an offensive assistant. In 2010-11, he was the running back trainer in Cincinnati.

Addae was recognized by Rivals.com as one of the top 10 recruiters at the Big East Conference.
