The Game of Thrones star joins the new Disney Plus series Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars alongside Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen
The highly anticipated Disney Plus Star Wars TV series centered on Obi-Wan Kenobi is adding to its cast with Game of Thrones star Indira Varma.
The 47-year-old British actress, best known for playing Ellaria Sand in HBO’s Game of Thrones, has signed on for an unspecified role via Deadline.
No details about Varma’s character have been revealed, although she is accompanied by Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Annakin Skywalker, both reprising their roles in the prequel to the Star Wars trilogy.

There was also no official detail of the plot released at this time, although the show is expected to take place between the film in the final prequel trilogy, 2005’s Revenge of the Sith and the original 1977 classic A New Hope.
McGregor recently revealed during Eddie Izzard’s charity marathon last month that filming will begin in late ‘spring’ in Los Angeles.

He also confirmed that Deborah Chow of The Mandalorian is directing two episodes of the Obi-Wan series.

Joby Harold (Army of the Dead) came aboard to write the series in April, replacing Hossein Amini’s departure (Drive).
The show was first announced at the D23 Expo in August 2019, although it remains unclear when it can debut on Disney Plus.
Alec Guinness originally played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the original Star Wars trilogy, before McGregor was brought in to play the younger version of the prequel.
