Galaxy Z Flip with broken screen, broken back and destroyed camera lens is completely restored in the latest video

Foldable smartphones are anything but durable. Although manufacturers like Samsung are working to increase that number, it will be a while before we see devices with this form factor have a higher tolerance. Models like the Galaxy Z Flip are not only easy to break, but also very expensive to fix, assuming you were unlucky enough to have a broken screen or cracked glass on it. Fortunately, a YouTuber shows how easy it is to replace parts of a Galaxy Z Flip that can no longer be used.

YouTuber shows that, with the right spare parts ordered, it’s simply restoring a foldable smartphone like the Galaxy Z Flip

Hugh Jeffreys has become a veteran of smartphone repairs and the video shown below may be no different than any other restoration clip, it is still a challenge, as he is restoring the Galaxy Z Flip. The model he ordered has a screen that flashes to the point where you can’t see what’s being shown on it, along with a broken rear window, a broken camera lens and a charging port that doesn’t work.

Samsung is rumored to be testing 8K 60FPS video on the Galaxy S22, but overheating issues persist

After searching for hours, Hugh Jeffreys managed to find the replacement part for the display assembly and the back of the glass. However, he would need to remove all components of the broken Galaxy Z Flip and transfer them to the new chassis. If you watch the video, you will notice that it is not a simple task, as a myriad of ribbon cables and stickers make it very difficult to remove all parts easily.

Fortunately, Hugh Jeffreys has enough experience to see his journey while replacing the loading door. The following is a breakdown of the costs of spare parts, and the astute among you probably would have guessed that the most expensive part was the display.

  • Loading port – A $ 27
  • Back panel – A $ 84
  • Display – A $ 895
  • Postage – A $ 27
  • Total – A $ 1,033 ($ 760 USD)

Hugh Jeffreys notes that it was an expensive undertaking to replace parts on his own and that Samsung offers cheaper services in case you break the Galaxy Z Flip. However, in some regions, company repairs may not be affordable, which means that some of you will have to go the expensive way and have some experience in this field to perform the restoration on your own.
