PARIS – French President Emmanuel Macron published a video on his Twitter account early on Thursday, in which Macron lashed out at scenes of violence in Washington DC while expressing his strength in the democratic process in the United States.
Macron spoke English and French in his video messages on Twitter, which carried the hashtag “#WeAreOne”.
“I just wanted to express our friendship and faith in the United States. What happened today in Washington DC is definitely not American. We believe in the strength of our democracies. We believe in the strength of American democracy, ”said Macron, speaking in English.
Hundreds of supporters of President Donald Trump had invaded the United States Capitol on Wednesday in an attempt to reverse his defeat in the elections.
