Frankie Jonas talks about addiction, suicidal thoughts

Frankie Jonas frankly revealed that he contemplated suicide while battling drug and alcohol addiction.

Nick’s younger brother Joe and Kevin Jonas said in a TikTok video that his mental health and fighting addiction reached a low point almost two years ago, when he thought about ending his life “for real”.

“This is by no means the eloquent explanation that I hope to give in a much more serious way than this. However, from a very young age, I struggled with drinking and drugs as an escape because I hated life and didn’t want to be here, ”said Frankie in the video, which was posted in response to a fan who asked him about his experience with the addiction.

“I finally, after many years of trying to accidentally kill myself, I got to the point where I would do it for real.”

The 20-year-old said “something intervened” and he went into treatment, which “saved” his life.

“I couldn’t be more grateful for the fact that I am alive today because my world has changed so beautifully and astronomically, and I am not that person anymore,” he shared in the video.

“I couldn’t be more grateful to be alive and happy.”

A self-styled “sober drug addict,” Frankie is currently studying at Columbia University, but revealed in a previous video that he didn’t feel he belonged there.

“It’s okay that I feel it, but it doesn’t make me less than anyone else, it doesn’t make me more than anyone else,” he explained. “It is also good to understand that the imposter syndrome can sometimes lead to a messiah complex, and that is also not a good thing. But it’s okay to stay in the middle. “
