Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s relationship ended in 2002, but after the debut of Armando Britney Spears, social media is demanding that the “Holy Grail” singer apologize for “throwing Britney under the bus” after the breakup.

On Friday, The New York Times Presents aired the 75-minute documentation on FX and Hulu, detailing the explosive narratives that overshadowed the pop star’s epic career: the 2008 mental breakdown that inspired his father Jamie Spears’ tutelage (currently in effect until September 3, 2021), and the #FreeBritney Movement led by fans who support Spears’ financial independence.

The documentary specifically revisits a 2003 interview between Diane Sawyer and ABC’s Spears, which put her on the spotlight after the couple split and rumors that she cheated on Timberlake after the release of her 2002 music video, “Cry Me a River”, that featured him taking revenge on a character like Spears.

In the interview, Sawyer asks Spears, “You broke his heart, you did something that caused him so much pain, so much suffering. What did you do? “The journalist also pressured Spears about his loyalty to Timberlake, to which she replied:” I think everyone has a side to their story to make them feel in a certain way … and I’m not saying technically that he is wrong, but I am not saying technically he is also right. ”

Spears also told Sawyer that she felt “exploited” by a New York radio interview with Timberlake, in which he joked that the couple slept together.

Some social media users complained that Timberlake, among others in Spears’ life, was responsible for inflicting “mental torture” on the star. “He’s the worst,” someone tweeted. “I’m really disgusted with Justin Timberlake and how he dragged Britney through the mud like that. Gross, ”wrote another. “He completely capitalized on their private relationship,” someone tweeted. Many asked Timberlake to issue an “apology” to Spears.

And some claimed that Timberlake’s behavior was a prelude to the consequences of his joint performance with Janet Jackson at the 2004 Super Bowl. While singing Timberlake’s song “Rock Your Body”, he accidentally pulled Jackson’s bustier Alexander McQueen her breast (which was covered by a nipple protector). Jackson released an apology video, which she later told Oprah Winfrey that she regretted, due to Timberlake’s role in the incident. And Timberlake apologized, saying, “I’m sorry if anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl halftime performance. It wasn’t intentional and it’s unfortunate.” Although years later, he admitted to having less blame for the incident.

A spokesman for Timberlake did not immediately respond to Yahoo Entertainment’s request for comment.

Almost two decades after their famous breakup, Spears, the mother of two who is dating coach Sam Asghari, and Timberlake, who shares two children with wife Jessica Biel, have obviously moved on. In January, she shared an Instagram video of herself dancing “Holy Grail” by her ex and Jay-Z. And in April, another video of her showed Spears playing Timberlake’s “Filthy”.

“Excellent music, JT”, she wrote on Instagram. In response, Timberlake posted a series of happy emojis.
