‘Framing Britney Spears’: 5 things we learned from the documentary

Superstar Britney Spears lived for a long time in the spotlight.

Shining an illuminating light on the pop star, “Framing Britney Spears”, examines the singer’s career and the resulting tutelage under Jamie Spears’ father after her public collapse in 2008.

With the documentary “The New York Times Presents” opening the curtain on Spears’ life, fans and celebrities are full of new perspectives regarding the star’s heritage – with a rallying cry of “#FreeBritney” world trend for days after the unauthorized documentary release.

Here are 5 things we learned from “Framing Britney Spears”.

1) Photos of Spears were being sold for more than $ 1 million at their peak

Before the era of smartphones and social media, the paparazzi and tabloid industries were booming with Spears’ rise in the early 2000s. With the synergy of the two industries, the singer became the epicenter of revenue generation – with any image of her being sold for more than $ 1 million.

Needless to say, an image of Spears was so highly valued that publications were willing to do anything to get it.

The former director of Us Weekly photographer Brittain Stone, who worked on the publication from 2001 to 2011, revealed that the company would spend $ 7 to $ 8 million a year for celebrity photographs. “Spending millions of dollars on photos, which just, you know, quintupled the amount of money that was out there, which meant there were a lot more photographers coming in and doing that.”

Paparazzo Daniel Ramos stated that “it is difficult to get out of [the paparazzi industry] as soon as you start earning the kind of money that these guys were earning. “

2) Spears had different plans for her guardianship

According to prosecutor Adam Streisand, Spears allegedly wanted “a professional” and “someone independent” to be the conservator of his person and assets, unlike his father.

In the documentary, Streisand, who was supposed to represent the singer, recalls Spears who said, “I don’t want my father to be my conservative.”

In addition, it was revealed that the judge who supervised Spears’ case found the singer to be inadequate to retain a lawyer due to a “medical report”, which Streisand was not allowed to see.

3) The documentary made Spears fans beat Justin Timberlake

In the document, Spears’ long-standing relationship with fellow pop star Justin Timberlake is examined, again drawing attention to the controversial breakup, which, according to Page Six, sparked rumors that Spears was unfaithful.

The vehicle reports that Timberlake’s video “Cry Me a River”, featuring an adulterous blonde character, fueled such speculation, as well as a 2003 interview between the “Toxic” singer and Diane Sawyer, who questioned the actress about what she did that caused “so much suffering” for Timberlake.

In one part of the documentary, images of Sawyer’s interview with “ABC Primetime Thursday” are used. At the time, it was heralded as a “barrier-free” look at the singer’s personal life amid her public separation from Timberlake.

“He went on television and practically said you broke his heart,” Sawyer told the 22-year-old singer at the time. “You did something that caused you so much pain, so much suffering … What did you do?”

4) Spears personally handed over $ 10,000 to his hometown for Christmas

Former assistant Felicia Culotta told the story of how when Spears was just beginning her climb to the top, she stopped to personally deliver money to residents of her hometown in Kentwood, Louisiana, at Christmas.

“… When she was getting famous – we were home for Christmas, and she wanted to pick up $ 10,000 in $ 100 bills, and she just drove through Kentwood and handed out $ 100 bills,” revealed Culotta. “It wasn’t ‘Hi, I’m Britney Spears’. It was ‘Merry Christmas’. “

According to several testimonials from people interviewed – including Culotta – the singer’s father was not particularly present during his daughter’s rise to fame.

Former Jive Records executive Kim Kaiman noted that it was Spears’ mother Lynne who helped navigate the singer’s career in its early stages, not her father.

Regarding the singer’s father, Kaiman claimed: “The only thing Jamie said to me was, ‘My daughter is going to be so rich she is going to buy me a boat’. That’s all I’m going to say about Jamie. “

A Jamie Spears representative did not immediately respond to Fox News’s request for comment.
