Four Liverpool players who can leave the January transfer window to raise millions

Never before has there been such a short time between two transfer windows to Liverpool.

Just 87 days since the summer market closed – and still less for the domestic lower league deadline – the January window was opened.

Jurgen Klopp has traditionally done little business in the new year, except for the much-needed arrival of Virgil van Dijk in 2018 and the opportunistic onslaught of Takumi Minamino last year.

In fact, Liverpool are unlikely to make major signings this month, although that approach may change if circumstances change with regard to new injury problems, especially at the center back.

Expenses were also minimal in January under Klopp, although Philippe Coutinho’s notable departures in 2018 and Dominic Solanke took place 12 months later.

And while Liverpool are not actively looking to change any of their teams this month, Premier League champions can have their determination tested if certain players are interested.

Divock Origi (£ 20 million)

Liverpool are very happy that the Belgian continues to stay and compete for a place in the main team until the end of the season.

The club, however, recognizes Origi’s long-term service and will not stand in its way if an appropriate offer tempts the Reds to think about a match.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Atlético de Madrid and Inter Milan are among the possible suitors, with the striker having played just eight games this season and playing just eight minutes in the Premier League.

Origi’s departure would free up extra non-home space on the Liverpool team, which may be necessary if there are foreign signings.

Xherdan Shaqiri (£ 20 million)

Shaqiri was apparently leaving Anfield in October, when he was omitted from the Carabao Cup game against Arsenal due to the interest of two clubs.

However, the Swiss chose not to move and were immediately rewarded with an opportunity to play for the first team, which generated decisive contributions against West Ham United and FC Midtjylland.

However, another injury – the story of the midfielder’s move to Liverpool – left him out for seven weeks before his recent return to action.

Shaqiri hopes he has a role to play in the second half of the season. However, a large offer for his services could lead Liverpool to consider making a profit.

Liam Millar (£ 3 million)

Millar was expected to leave on loan during the summer transfer window to Stoke City, Queens Park Rangers and Rotherham, among several linked championship clubs.

Instead, the 21-year-old is in great shape for the under-23s, scoring two goals and scoring another goal in the EFL Trophy and taking on the captain’s armband in recent weeks in Premier League 2.

The Canadian international has spent seasons loaned to the Scottish Kilmarnock team over the past two seasons, and another temporary departure appears to be the most likely deal this month.

Yasser Larouci (£ 2 million)

Liverpool wanted to sell Larouci over the summer after it became clear that the 20-year-old was refusing to sign a new contract.

Larouci, who was part of the Reds’ team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2019, made his debut as a starter last season.

However, concerns about injuries have meant that the left-back has made just two Premier League 2 appearances for the Under-23s this season.

Liverpool raised £ 7 million in 2019 from the sale of Rafa Camacho – who also declined a contract with the remaining 12 months in his current deal with the Reds – but, with only six months left, Larouci would now command only a fraction of that amount.
