Former Instagram model YouTuber takes responsibility for changing the iconic Hollywood sign to ‘Hollyboob’

A former Instagram model from Los Angeles would be among six people arrested on Monday for altering California’s iconic Hollywood sign to read “Hollyboob”.

Julia Rose, who was banned from the social media platform in December and previously dated YouTube star Jake Paul, tweeted on Monday night that she had just been released from prison.

“[Just] got out of prison …. wbu[?]”Rose wrote in a tweet.

SIX ARRESTED FOR CHANGING HOLLYWOOD’S ICONIC SIGN TO READ ‘HOLLYBOOB’

In a post earlier in the day that has since received more than 7,600 likes, Rose tweeted that she “finally fixed the Hollywood sign”.

Shortly after her tweets on Monday night, Rose shared a TikTok video in which she is being taken out of the scene handcuffed by police from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

She retweeted YouTuber Jack Tenney, who was also arrested and took responsibility for the “gotcha”.

“WE DID THAT S ** T!” Tenney wrote in a tweet, also tweeting photos from his prison with the caption: “Boob’s final work.”

In a video about his account, Tenney told his more than 5.57 million followers that he and Rose worked together to “make a prank across the state of California”.

“I’m sure you’ll see it on the news,” said the influencer, noting that a video of his arrest would also be posted to his Instagram account.

In an Instagram story posted on Tuesday morning, Tenney wrote that his followers “have no idea what’s coming” and marked YouTuber Skummy Diener and what appeared to be realtor Rick Steiermann’s account. In his own story, Diener tagged Tucker Hennessy – who also posted a photo of his arrest.

An initial TMZ report said the group told authorities that they had carried out the maneuver to raise awareness of breast cancer.

However, while recognizing the importance of the cause, many did not enjoy the group’s efforts as much.

“A few hours ago, a group tried to vandalize the Hollywood sign. Los Angeles landmarks are precious to us @LAPDHollywood and that wasn’t cool (not to mention the terrain is quite steep and dangerous),” tweeted Captain Steve Lurie of LAPD. “Hollywood patrol officers arrested all six individuals.”

Speaking to the KTLA, Lurie said the staff observed the perpetrators on video surveillance at around 1:15 pm Pacific time, before a police helicopter responded to the scene.

The incident cannot be classified as vandalism “because the plaque was not damaged,” he said, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The Times also reported that the police presence would increase for several days because of the incident.

The six involved – whose names were not made public immediately – were allegedly cited as a misdemeanor for trespassing and The Hollywood Reporter said the sign was back to normal.

This is not the first time that individuals have attempted to change the 98-year milestone.

In 2017, artist Zach Fernandez changed the sign to read “Hollyweed” and in 1987 it said “Holywood” before the Pope’s visit.

In a statement to Fox News, the president of the Hollywood Sign Trust, Mark Panatier, praised the rangers at LAPD and Griffith Park for their help.

“Through the efforts of the LAPD Hollywood Division and the Park Rangers in Griffith Park, the sign’s video and security monitoring system today stopped vandalism,” he said.

“It is a pity that there are those who think that changing the signal is a good sport, but this renowned icon should be appreciated and not underestimated,” added Panatier.
