Ford reportedly delays some deliveries of its Mustang Mach-E

Ford will delay delivery of hundreds of its Mustang Mach-E vehicles to perform quality checks, Electrek reported. The automaker started delivering the Mach-E SUV in December, but some buyers have reported that their future delivery dates have been delayed, up to a month in some cases, according to Electrek.

The Mustang Mach-E SUV is Ford’s first update to the iconic Mustang brand of all time, and the company’s biggest foray into the EV market.

Ford did not immediately return a request for comment from The Verge on Saturday but a spokesman said Electrek was doing “additional quality checks on several hundred” of SUVs that were built before dealer shipments started in December, “to make sure they met the quality that our customers expect and deserve”

Ford did not say what specifically motivated the new quality checks, but the company told the Ford Authority blog that was working to speed up deliveries of the Mustang Mach-E, “and we expect customers to receive them before the due dates, as long as there are no shipping delays related to COVID-19”.
