Ford Field COVID mass vaccination site launches on Wednesday

DETROIT – Authorities said the pre-opening of the mass vaccination site COVID-19 at Ford Field on Tuesday was a success.

With the site officially opening on Wednesday, officials are preparing for everyone, including those with disabilities or limited English.

“We have tried to be very careful about access to languages ​​and people with disabilities, ensuring that we have enough vaccine capsules for people with wheelchairs,” said Michigan Governor Garlin Gilchrist.

About 70 vaccination capsules were installed and people who received the vaccine on Tuesday said it was a very quick process.

The process is coordinated by the Meijer pharmacy, which said it has about 360,000 doses to distribute over the next eight weeks.

There is no cost for the vaccine, insurance is not necessary and offers free parking.
