Florida taking precautions, but avoiding the ‘insanity’ of Cuomo blocks in New York: Markowicz

Longtime New Yorker Karol Markowicz criticized Governor Andrew Cuomo in America’s Newsroom for his “mess” of the coronavirus pandemic compared to states like Florida.

“We have Governor Cuomo, who has been told that he is doing a great job throughout the process, and that he is actually doing a terrible job,” the New York Post columnist said on Tuesday.

“I mean, not only have our businesses been destroyed, our vaccination program is all overdue,” she said. “Florida is going through age, which is what we should have been doing all the time.”

In his Post column, Markowicz writes: “The New York authorities do not believe that our people do the right thing for themselves and their neighbors. Our lives are held hostage to Cuomo’s whims.”

However, she points out that Florida residents know what to expect from Governor Ron DeSantis.

“The biggest difference is that everything in Florida is open, and closed restaurants are open in all cities, and they’re living a normal life, but everyone still wears masks, everyone’s social distance, everyone washing their hands often ,” she said. “They are taking every precaution without the insanity we are doing in New York.”

Markowicz stressed that it is not uncommon to see a New Yorker wear a mask alone on the street, although he should not.

“We did it because we felt pressure from society to do this, but in Florida, they just don’t do crazy things like that. It makes it easier to take precautions seriously, ”she said.

“Florida is doing it right. Not New York, and that is very difficult for a longtime New Yorker to say, ”concluded Markowicz.
