Florida fugitive caught hiding in Ohio with his 2 daughters

CLEVELAND – A Florida fugitive wanted for allegedly beating a 28-year-old man with a wrench was captured in Ohio, where he was found hiding with his two 6-year-old daughters.

The man, Ramon Medina Santiago, was wanted in Lee County, Florida, for an attack on January 9.

Officials say Santiago and some other people were riding motorcycles and “causing trouble for other drivers”. When one of the drivers tried to flee the group, Santiago and the group allegedly assaulted him with a wrench and their helmets.

Nearby spectators stopped the attack and Santiago and the others left.

Police later identified Santiago as a suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday, officials said. The US Marshals learned that he fled to Ohio with his two daughters and contacted members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. The police immediately started looking for Santiago, and within hours he was captured on block 2100 on West Boulevard in Cleveland.

Santiago was with his 6-year-old twin daughters. They were delivered to Cuyahoga County Children Services and then sent back to the family in Florida.

“We are not only satisfied with having this violent and reckless fugitive off the streets, but recovering the two girls safely is a victory for everyone involved. I thank Florida officials and staff here in Ohio for their dedication to fugitive arrest missions and the recovery of children in distress, “said Marshal Pete Elliott.
